The U.S. Consulate in Erbil is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Specialist Guard. The work schedule for this position is full time, 40 hours per week.
Supervisory Position: No
The incumbent provides security for U.S. personnel and facilities by conducting security operations as a member of a team of guard personnel. The monitor observe, recognize, and report suspicious incidents directed against U.S. Government facilities and/or personnel and initiate emergency responses to possible hostile actions, as necessary, to safeguard life and property.
|QUALIFICATIONS and Evaluations|
|Education :||Completion of high school is required.|
|Experience :||One (1) year of military, police, or private experience in the field of security required.|
|Job Knowledge :|
|Language :||English level II (Limited Knowledge) Language required.
Kurdish level III (Good working knowledge) Language required
(Language proficiency may be tested)
|Skills and Abilities :||Must have a valid Iraqi driver’s license to operate cars.|
|Qualifications :||All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.|

The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service. Acceptable documentation must be submitted in order for the preference to be given.
** This level of preference applies to all Foreign Service employees on LWOP and CS with re-employment rights back to their agency or bureau.
